Real Voices Matter

When I was almost due with my first baby girl, Violet, Autumn was nearly finished with doula boot camp and needed to attend a few births to graduate. I had always wanted a doula but never had the chance, so I asked to work with her. We quickly became friends, and I was thrilled to have Autumn at my delivery.

When contractions intensified in the middle of the night, my husband called her to come. She drove to the hospital immediately! Autumn guided me through labor, provided instructions on different positions, kept the heating pad on my back, applied counter pressure, and supported me all throughout the night into the next day. She understood my birth plan and advocated for me when I changed things up.

Autumn was my rock, guiding me, helping me, giving me water, and wiping away my sweat. I couldn’t have done it without her.

When I watch the birth video back, I can hear her encouraging words: “You’re doing great, she’s almost here, she’s beautiful!”
